Nine days after her abduction, Kemigisha Sharon, a Women councillor affiliated with NUP in Wandegeya Parish, Kawempe Division, Kampala, was finally located last night in a yet-to-be-disclosed location. A compassionate boda-boda rider discovered her and promptly brought her to the NUP office close to midnight.

Davis Rubongoya, NUP’s secretary-general, disclosed that during her captivity, Kemigisha endured solitary confinement while hearing the suffering of others in adjacent rooms. Interrogations focused on her outspoken views about the regime expressed in various interviews.

In a harrowing account, Kemigisha revealed that the abductors had forced her to undress and took photographs while mocking her. Despite this ordeal, her spirit remains unbroken. It is our shared responsibility to put an end to such heinous crimes against humanity.

When she disappeared, Kemigisha was actively organizing a women’s day event for her foundation, Kemi Care, scheduled for March 20, 2024, at Katanga playground in Kampala, aimed at empowering women in the ghetto.

Sharon Kemigisha, the Woman Councillor for Wandegeya, who was reportedly kidnapped on February 23, 2024, alongside NUP activists, has demanded that the Uganda Police and sister security agencies produce her within 48 hours.

As per her husband, Haruna Kasozi, their last conversation took place on February 23, 2024, around 5:00 p.m. Afterward, her phone went silent, and she remained untraceable. Despite Kasozi’s persistent efforts, the police have yet to issue any official statement on the matter. The urgency of this situation emphasizes the need for swift action and accountability.
