President Museveni is dismayed and disheartened by the defiance of NRM CEC members, who are vying for MP seats in 2026 despite his disapproval.

Museveni has been generously funding the party headquarters at Kyadondo, providing each CEC member with a substantial monthly retainer of 15 million shillings and a fuel allowance of 6 million shillings.Additionally, he recently purchased brand new cars for each CEC member from Kampala Modernity at a cost of 250 million shillings per vehicle.

These luxuries were intended to ensure the CEC members’ loyalty and contentment. However, Museveni is shocked that some CEC members are utilizing these resources to campaign against incumbent NRM MPs.Museveni thinks that is enough facilitation to make CEC bosses happy for the rest of their lives.

They also get 10m per day in case of byelections and they get deployed to a region to boost mobilization. However, Museveni is shocked to the marrow that instead of sitting home to comfortably enjoy their good money which they get for free, a good number of CEC bosses are using that very money to campaign against incumbent MPs who are also from NRM.

He recently called those doing this bad thing and pleaded with them to stop it to avoid creating problems and friction between CEC and other organs of NRM especially the caucus in Parliament.

Museveni summoned several CEC members who were engaging in this behavior, including Lydia Wanyoto, Godfrey Kiwanda, Gabriel Kato, James Tweheyo, and Nasser Gaddafi, and urged them to desist from creating friction within the party. Gaddafi, in particular, has raised eyebrows due to his extensive wealth and influence as a member of the immigration directorate’s board.

His determination to secure the Katikamu north MP seat has sparked concerns among NRM seniors, including Hajji Nadduli, who believes that the Baganda in the constituency will not support a Nubian candidate due to historical grievances. In Luwero, Nasser Gaddafi faces strong opposition from senior NRM members, including Hajji Nadduli, who believes that the Baganda in Katikamu north will not support him due to his Nubian heritage.

Instead, Gaddafi is being advised to contest the seat in Katikamu south, where Bombo, a hub for his fellow Nubians, is located. There is a widespread perception that the Baganda in Katikamu north will not vote for someone whose grandfather, Nassur, was notorious for mistreating people on the streets of Kampala in the 1970s as a high-ranking official in Amin’s government.

Undeterred, Gaddafi, who has been amassing significant wealth since 2016 as a CEC member and immigration board member, is determined to use his vast resources to defeat NUP strongman Denis Sekabira in the 2026 elections. His position as a CEC member and immigration board member has granted him unparalleled access to funds and influence, making him a formidable force in the political landscape.

Voters are aware of Gaddafi’s immense wealth and are eager to benefit from his largesse, which he can afford to dispense freely, having made billions as a CEC member and immigration board member.
