The late Tamale Mirundi, a renowned media personality and political analyst, has left behind a burial plan that is as dramatic as it is unique. In a surprising revelation, Mirundi’s final wishes include a house-hopping funeral procession, complete with cows and celebrations, showcasing his flair for the extraordinary.
According to his will, Mirundi desired to spend two days in each of his three wives’ homes, where a cow would be slaughtered in his honor, symbolizing a grand family reunion. This unusual request reflects Mirundi’s affection for his wives and his desire to feel their love even in death.
Additionally, Mirundi wished for a posthumous celebration involving beer and partying, allowing people, especially those from the market where he was a familiar face, to bid him a final farewell. However, it remains unclear if these elaborate wishes will be fulfilled, as his family has announced a modified burial program.
The revised itinerary includes a vigil and mass at the Zana residence, followed by a requiem mass at St. Gyaviira Catholic Church in Bunamwaya, and subsequent overnight vigils at the Zana and Kyengera residences. The final burial ceremony will take place in Kalagala Village, Kaliisizo, Rakai District.
Tamale Mirundi Jr., his son, has expressed profound sorrow and reflection over the loss of his mentor and hero. The duo was known for their joint interviews and collaborative content, showcasing their deep bond. In his tribute, Mirundi Jr. described his father as a guiding light and an indispensable advisor, whose absence leaves him feeling adrift.
As the family prepares to lay Mirundi to rest, they honor his memory by fulfilling some of his burial wishes, while scaling down others to ensure a more manageable and dignified farewell.
