Ranking Of Best And Worst Universities In Uganda Released
In the new extensively-discussed ranking making rounds on digital platforms, Webometrics, the leading academic council for Higher Education Institutions globally since 2004, has revealed its most recent assessment of the premier universities in Africa and around the world.
In their routine biannual evaluation spanning two decades, Webometrics has thoroughly assessed Ugandan universities, meticulously categorizing them from the most outstanding to the least commendable. Demonstrating a steadfast commitment to an impartial, transparent, and open scientific evaluation conducted by the Cybermetrics Lab (Spanish National Council, CSIC), the initiative strives to provide reliable, comprehensive, up-to-date, and valuable insights into the global standing of universities based on their web presence and impact.
As of January 2024, Makerere University, a government-owned institution, continues to uphold the distinguished title of Uganda’s top-ranking university. Following closely behind is Kampala International University (KIU), a private institution securing the second position within the country. The third spot is claimed by Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), followed by Kyambogo in the fourth position and Gulu University in the fifth position.
In the sixth position stands Busitema University, while Kabale University secures the seventh spot, and Uganda Martyrs University attains the eighth position. The ninth place is occupied by The Islamic University in Uganda, with Ndejje University rounding up the top ten.
Securing the 11th position is Mountains of The Moon, recently brought under government administration, followed by Makerere University Business School (MUBS) at the 12th position. Bishop Stuart University claims the 13th spot, with Uganda Christian University securing the 14th position in the Webometrics ranking. This detailed analysis reflects the ongoing commitment of Webometrics to providing in-depth insights into the academic landscape, offering a comprehensive view of university rankings.
