NO ONE WILL STOP ME!! Speaker Anita Among Leaks Plan To Contest Against Rebecca Kagada For This Powerful Position
The Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, has officially announced her candidacy for the position of National Vice Chairperson, Female, of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Party.
During a press briefing at Parliament on Wednesday, November 27, Among declared her intention to run for the prestigious party position, exuding confidence and determination.
“To answer your question about whether I am contesting for the NRM National Vice Chairperson, Female, let me be clear: I am not standing for the position in the Eastern region. I am contesting for NRM National Vice Chairperson, Female,” she affirmed, emphasizing her focus on the national role.
Among’s announcement marks a significant political move within the NRM, potentially shifting the party’s leadership dynamics. The position she seeks is currently held by Hon. Rebecca Kadaga, the former Speaker of Parliament, who now serves as the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East African Affairs.
Kadaga won the position in a heated contest during the previous party elections, though she has not yet revealed whether she plans to defend her seat. The potential clash between Among and Kadaga could spark a major political rivalry, as both women are influential figures within the NRM.
In her address, Speaker Among underscored her commitment to the party’s advancement, saying, “This is not merely a contest; it’s a dedication to service, unity, and the empowerment of women within our great party.”
President Museveni, the central figure in NRM politics, was reportedly surprised by Among’s assertive declaration, with some insiders suggesting that her candidacy is a strategic maneuver to position herself as a significant force in shaping the party’s future.
As Uganda heads toward its next electoral cycle, the race for the NRM Vice Chairperson – Female role is set to become a defining moment in the country’s political landscape. Whether Kadaga will defend her seat or pass the baton to the determined Speaker Among remains to be seen.
