Dropped Minister Nandutu Asks President Museveni To Forgive Her For Her Sins
Agnes Nandutu, the former State minister for Karamoja, found herself in a bind as she was denied the opportunity to address journalists at the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM). Despite this setback, Nandutu, also serving as the Bududa District Woman MP, swiftly redirected her efforts to Parliament.
A seasoned former journalist herself, Nandutu had meticulously planned a press briefing at OPM for 11 am to discuss the recent Cabinet Reshuffle announced the previous evening. However, her intentions were thwarted by the authorities.
Accused of corruption and abuse of office stemming from her alleged involvement in the misappropriation of iron sheets meant for the Karimojong community, Nandutu was swiftly replaced in the Cabinet by Florence Nambozo Wamala.
Upon her arrival at the Twin Towers, the nerve center of the OPM, Nandutu was met with resolute opposition from security personnel, predominantly comprised of Special Forces Command soldiers. Despite protests from journalists, access beyond the security checkpoint was firmly restricted.
Undeterred by the obstruction, journalists patiently awaited Nandutu’s arrival for nearly two hours until her official vehicle finally pulled up. However, to their disappointment, Nandutu was nowhere to be seen, suggesting she had been dissuaded from entering OPM premises to address the media.
Seeking refuge within the hallowed halls of Parliament, Nandutu humbly sought forgiveness from President Museveni and vowed her allegiance to the NRM manifesto from her newfound position on the backbench.
Reflecting on the events at OPM, Nandutu confided to our correspondent that she had neglected to inform security personnel of her scheduled press briefing, attributing their stringent actions to this oversight.
In the wake of her dismissal, Nandutu found herself stripped of her ministerial post alongside her former superior, Mary Gorreti Kitutu.
