President Yoweri Museveni, serving as both the head of state and the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, has implemented a series of significant changes within the Special Forces Command (SFC), a crucial component of the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF).
As outlined in the official statement released by the Ministry of Defense and UPDF, the seasoned military officer, Col Allan Matsiko, previously holding the position of SFC director for intelligence, has now assumed the role of the 303 brigade commander, marking a strategic shift in leadership.
Simultaneously, Col JB Asinguza, a distinguished figure in the armed forces, has been appointed as the new commander of Special Forces Group One, showcasing a seamless integration of responsibilities as he continues to serve as the Director of Training within the SFC.
Under the directive of the Commander-in-Chief, Lt Col Bagonza has been deservingly promoted to the rank of Colonel, accompanied by his new designation as the commander of Special Forces Group Two, underscoring the emphasis on adept leadership within the specialized units.
Meanwhile, Lt Col Duncan Kafeero, maintaining his steadfast role, retains the position of Deputy Director, contributing to the cohesive functioning of the Special Forces Command.
It is crucial to note that the Special Forces Command (SFC) stands as an elite unit within the UPDF, meticulously tasked with ensuring the security and protection of the President of Uganda and the esteemed members of the first family, thereby solidifying its pivotal role in safeguarding the nation’s leadership.
