A 27-year-old second-hand shoe vendor, Mr. Juma Musuuza, popularly known as Madubarah, has become the fifth Ugandan TikToker to be remanded in less than a week for allegedly making derogatory comments about the First Family.

Madubarah faces accusations of saying, “If Museveni hands over power to his drunkard son, the country will be destroyed within two days. Let Ugandans pray for our country and ourselves.” His remarks have sparked controversy and led to his arrest.

In response to the incident, the Minister for Youth and Children Affairs, Honorable Balaam, took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to address the situation. Balaam urged young people to harness the power of social media for positive purposes, emphasizing the importance of fostering entrepreneurship, creativity, and respect online. “Let’s respect others as we use social media platforms,” he advised.

In a counter-reaction, one X user responded by criticizing the minister’s statement. “You keep quiet, you can’t see all those people are young and in their 30s. As a minister, wake up! These young people are jobless, which is why they’re on TikTok, seeking attention and likes. Go and fish them out, think quickly.”
