Bobi Wine, the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), has strongly condemned what he describes as a blatant act of political manipulation orchestrated by President Museveni’s regime.

The controversy erupted after videos surfaced showing Full Figure, a controversial Museveni ally, parading a group of freed NUP political prisoners. These individuals claimed they were rejected by NUP after their release.

Bobi Wine has adamantly denied these allegations, calling them part of a calculated smear campaign launched by the government. At the center of the controversy is the regime’s apparent attempt to exploit these victims of political injustice for its own political gain. Bobi Wine explained that upon learning of the prisoners’ release, NUP quickly arranged transportation, refreshments, and financial aid to assist them.

“These comrades were warmly welcomed by our Secretary General, who ensured they were safely transported home after enduring a long ordeal,” Bobi Wine said. He added that even after their late-night return, NUP provided them with continued support once they reunited with their families.

Bobi Wine accused the regime of manipulating vulnerable individuals with promises of wealth and power.

“This is a criminal regime that locked them up for four years without trial, subjected them to unimaginable suffering, and now shamelessly parades them in front of cameras to spread lies,” he declared.

He further stated that this spectacle was a desperate attempt to tarnish the reputation of NUP and deflect attention from the regime’s well-documented failures. Bobi Wine also acknowledged the difficulty of competing with a government flush with billions of shillings, which it uses to buy political loyalty.

“We cannot match their wealth, but we will never abandon those who are committed to this struggle for liberation,” Bobi Wine declared.

Amid the growing controversy, Bobi Wine’s message is clear: the Museveni regime, driven by fear and desperation, is willing to go to any lengths to maintain power.

However, NUP remains steadfast, determined to stand up against the oppressive forces and expose the regime’s manipulative tactics.

“History is watching,” Bobi Wine warned, “and those behind these shameful acts will ultimately face its judgment.”
