The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, has amplified her discourse regarding perceived opposition from unspecified people. Among now asserts that certain “elderly women from Kamuli” are orchestrating her current predicaments and impeding progress in Buyende District.
She delivered this message to residents of Buyende, a secluded district in Busoga, during the weekend.
Recently, Among faced scrutiny following allegations of severe corruption and misuse of authority within Parliament, an institution under her stewardship, prompting apprehension.
She dismisses such claims as mere hearsay, attributing them to her adversaries.
During her visit to Buyende, the Speaker once again underscored the existence of her adversaries, who she claims not only oppose her but also obstruct development in the district.
“This time, she indirectly hinted that the enemies whose names she did not mention, are ‘old women’ from Kamuli District.”
“Those who are fighting us are fighting you, and it’s high time we chased away those old women,” @AnitahAmong asserted to the impoverished people of Buyende. She stressed “old women” and ensured the translator conveyed it accurately.
Kamuli is the ancestral district of Among’s predecessor, Rebecca Kadaga, who serves as the woman MP, First Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister for East African Community Affairs.
Despite Among being married to Buyende MP Moses Magogo, her recent outburst and explicit mention of Kamuli might fuel speculation within the sub-region.
Among’s remarks follow her previous assertion to Bukedea district residents that certain predecessors sought to reclaim the speakership seat.
“All this unfolds as public pressure mounts on the Parliament’s top leadership to address social media reports regarding questionable expenditure of taxpayers’ money on legislators’ allowances and ‘service pays’.”
