President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, in his capacity as Commander-In-Chief of the armed forces, has elevated Chris Magezi from Lieutenant Colonel to full Colonel in a rare and special promotion.

Additionally, Magezi has been appointed as Military Assistant to the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) in charge of media, a position that underscores his expertise in communications and public relations.

Magezi’s promotion is notable for its uniqueness, as military sources reveal that the message announcing his promotion came alone, a rare occurrence in the military. Typically, promotions are announced in batches, making Magezi’s promotion a special exception. Furthermore, Magezi has only been a Lieutenant Colonel for less than three years, making his rapid rise to Colonel a testament to his exceptional service and dedication.

Magezi’s appointment as Military Assistant to the CDF is also significant, given his previous roles as head of communications for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba and spokesperson for the Air Force and Special Forces Command (SFC). His experience in strategic communications and media relations will undoubtedly serve him well in his new position.

The promotion and appointment of Magezi are seen as a strategic move by President Museveni to strengthen the military’s media and communications capabilities.

As the military continues to play a vital role in Uganda’s security and development, the need for effective communication and public relations has become increasingly important. Magezi’s expertise and experience make him an ideal candidate for this critical role.
