Police In Uganda Names Those Who Attacked Buganda Clan Leader
Police authorities have disclosed the identities of two out of the three alleged assailants linked to the assassination of Daniel Bbosa, the Ndiga Clan leader. According to Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson, Enock Sserunkuuma, a resident of Lungujja, and Noah Luggya, currently receiving treatment at Mulago National Referral Hospital, have been identified as involved in the attack.
Both Sserunkuuma and Luggya hail from the Ndiga clan. The pair, along with another suspect who is still at large, reportedly assaulted and fatally shot Bbosa inside his car near his residence in Lungujja parish, Rubaga division, Kampala, on a Sunday. Attempting to escape on a motorcycle, they were pursued by vigilant residents who apprehended and lynched Sserunkuuma, while Luggya survived and was subsequently hospitalized.
Enanga stated that a CT scan conducted on Luggya showed no fractures, and he is currently conscious and under the guard of Kampala Metropolitan Police. “We expect our teams to obtain valuable information from him as the investigations continue,” Enanga added. He expressed gratitude to the community, particularly Boda boda riders, for their bravery in pursuing the assailants. The third suspect managed to evade capture and is currently in hiding, but both the firearm and motorcycle utilized in the crime were successfully recovered.
The motorcycle, bearing its original number UFX 854F, was discovered with a counterfeit number plate, UEX 754E. Enanga highlighted that the motive behind the murder remains undetermined, and detectives are retrieving CCTV footage from the area to gather any relevant information. The firearm used in the crime has been submitted to ballistic experts for thorough analysis.
Police confirmed the well-being of the widow, Glades Bbosa, and their maid, Peace Nambaale, who were present with the deceased in a Land Cruiser. The late Bbosa served as the proprietor of Transa Electrical Company Limited. As investigations unfold, the authorities are piecing together the puzzle surrounding this tragic incident.
