President Museveni’s recent cabinet reshuffle, unveiled on March 21, 2024, introduced a wave of new faces and restructured key ministerial positions. Among the prominent figures appointed were Florence Wamala Nambozo, Balaam Barugahara, Dr. Kenneth Omona, Phionah Nyamutoro, Gen Wilson Mbadi, and Lillian Aber.
The changes saw significant shifts in various ministries. Mary Goretti Kitutu, embroiled in the Karamoja iron sheets scandal, was replaced as Karamoja affairs minister by Peter Lokeris. Agnes Nandutu was also replaced by Florence Nambozo Wamala as Karamoja state minister.
In the defense and veterans affairs docket, Vincent Ssempijja was replaced by Markson Jacob Oboth as the line minister. Notably, Balaam Barugahara of the newly launched Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) assumed the role of Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs.
Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, previously serving as the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), took on the position of Minister of State for Trade and Cooperatives, marking a significant transition.
President Museveni, exercising his authority under the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, utilized Articles: 108(2), 108A(1), 113(1), and 114(1) to effect these reforms.
