In a candid conversation, Mityana Woman MP Joyce Bagala recently met with National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, Bobi Wine, to discuss ongoing tensions within the party. During their private discussion, Bobi Wine expressed concerns regarding her loyalty and sought her position on the ongoing conflict between him and Mathias Mpuuga.

Bagala, who is still popular in her constituency, responded firmly, stating that she would not be used to tarnish the reputation of Mpuuga, whom she believes is being unfairly criticized. According to Bagala, these internal conflicts are unnecessary and are largely driven by a former Ssuubi MP who, out of jealousy, has been feeding Bobi Wine false information to secure his influence at the party’s headquarters in Magere.

Bagala emphasized that Mpuuga is more than just a political ally; he is a close friend, and she refused to betray him. She reassured Bobi Wine that she continues to respect him as the party’s leader, but she made it clear that her loyalty to Mpuuga remains unwavering. In a striking comparison, she told Bobi Wine: “Asking me to turn my back on Mpuuga is like asking you to abandon NUP First Lady, Barbie Itungo.”

Following the meeting, Bobi Wine reportedly shared his dilemma with other senior NUP members in a closed-door discussion. He acknowledged that Bagala’s firm stance had put him in a difficult position regarding the Mityana Woman MP seat, which has attracted several contenders eager to carry the NUP flag in the upcoming elections.

The conversation between Bagala and Bobi Wine has sparked discussions within the party, with members divided on how to navigate the internal disputes ahead of the 2026 elections.
