The eagerly awaited release of the 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education Examination (UCE) results is slated for Thursday, February 15, 2024, as revealed by an undisclosed source within the Ministry of Education and Sports, who opted for anonymity. The announcement is anticipated to occur at 11 am, hosted at the prestigious State House Nakasero.
Preceding the public disclosure, a high-profile meeting between the Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) and the Minister of Education is on the agenda, providing valuable insights into the students’ performance. This release marks the second phase of national examination results revealed by Uneb, following the recent disclosure of the Primary Leaving Examinations.
Mr. Dan Odongo, the Executive Director of Uneb, is geared up to present in-depth perspectives on the number of candidates who actively participated in the examination compared to the registered candidates. The revelation will encompass a detailed breakdown of the overall performance, delving into performance categorized by gender.
Post the official release, parents, candidates, and various stakeholders can expeditiously access the results through the convenient Short Message Services (SMS) on their mobile devices. This process entails sending a text with the complete Index Number of the candidate to 6600.
Simultaneously, the Kasese District Local Government has already disseminated the Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results, unveiling noteworthy improvements in school performance. Notable government schools in the district achieving outstanding results include Ruboni, Bwera COU, Katwe Boarding, St. John Bukangara, Kagando P/s, Hima Public, Kalonge I, and Mweya p/s. Conversely, the underperforming schools include Kahendero P/s, Maghoma, Nyakanengo, St. Augustine Kitabu, Kyondo, and Kasenyi.
Furthermore, the acting district education officer, Mr. Thabugha Ernest, has outlined a series of strategies aimed at enhancing educational services in 2024. These initiatives encompass community sensitization, transparent human resource distribution, encouragement of co-curricular activities, mobilization of funding, and the establishment of centers of excellence.
District authorities, including Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Byamungu Elias and the district chairperson, have emphatically stressed the imperative for head teachers to strive for improved school performance. They have pledged incentives for outstanding schools and students, intending to serve as motivation for others.
During the results release event at State House Nakasero, UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo underscored a higher proportion of candidates passing in Division 3 and above. However, he expressed concern over the substantial number of candidates receiving an Ungraded (Division U), prompting a call for a more profound investigation into the causes to effectively address the issue.
