Video!! Uganda Prison Bus Attacked By Rowdy Youths , Beat Up Prison Officer To Save Their Colleague Who Was A Suspected Phone Thief
The Uganda Prisons Service has issued a press release regarding an incident involving one of its buses, registration number UG. 0419U, which was attacked by vandals at Bunyolwa Zirobwe on April 18, 2024.
Reports of the attack surfaced on April 20, 2024, indicating that bandits targeted the Uganda Prisons bus in an attempt to assist a colleague fleeing from authorities. During the altercation, one prison officer was assaulted, and the bus’s windshield sustained damage.
According to the official statement released by the Uganda Prisons Service on April 21, 2024, a video circulating on social media depicts a group of youths launching an attack on the Prisons Bus with registration number UG. 0419U.
The incident occurred following a theft involving a youth who stole a phone from a staff member attending the burial of CH/WDR III Kasozi Fred’s late brother. Subsequently, the young perpetrator was apprehended, but his associates resorted to violence in an attempt to free him as he was being escorted to the nearby Police Station.
Fortunately, local law enforcement authorities and community leaders intervened, bringing the situation under control and resolving the matter peacefully. The Uganda Prisons Service expresses gratitude to the Police and local leadership for their prompt response and assistance in handling the incident.
Frank Mayanja Baine, Senior Commissioner of Prisons and Deputy Director CCA/Service Spokesperson, emphasized the importance of maintaining order and security in such situations.
